Looking at dropping a 16xe in my 12merit, so of course I need to get an injection tank. Can buy em pretty cheap from here - http://www.crashrepairparts.com/parts/partid/VX331BAAAN/Fuel_Tank_Petrol_Injection_Models/vauxhall/nova/saloon-mk1/hatchback-mk1/mk2?_ts=24579

but is it worth waiting for a gsi/gte to turn up (for the swirl pot)?

also in the smallblock thread here I see ill need to make up new lines, does this just mean the hoses and I can use the pipes as they are?

Cheers

without a swirl pot you WILL get surging going round corners on or less than a 1/2 tank.

judge for yourself whether or not you think its worth it.

Cheers. . . so after that and a pump is it just the hoses I need to change?

1.2 has supply and return lines, ideally replace them for something a little more substantial, but you would get away with using the standard ones and fitting an external in-line pump (and filter)
fit the pump at the fuel tank end, not in the engine bay.
upgrade the rubber hoses to fuel hose.

Sorry to pester, but this is all new to me. Think you could point me in the right direction (what i might replace current lines with, materials for making up hose etc)?

8mm copper micro-bore from a plumbers would do and is easy to get hold of. or rip some plastic lines off an old corsa B. they will be a similar shape, from this you will be able to salvage the filter and the connections needed for it.
if using copper flare the ends to act as a hose barb.

search for suitable ID fuel-hose to match your choice of hard piped lines. any decent motor factors will have. buy some decent quality Jubilee clips while you're there.

Is it just a Gsi and gte that come with internal swirl pot or do all injection tanks have a swirl pot?

IMO try buying a sender/ fuel pick up before buying a GTE/GSI/SRI tank, you might struggle, as the GTE/GSI/SRI tank has a specific type used that's not found on any other tank.

IMO SPI tank with MPI in tank pump is the easiest solution.

I used B&Q's finest 8mm copper pipe for my fuel lines, its fine 3 years on..

So the spi tanks have a swirl pot?

an internal one, yes

Isnt it just the gte/gsi tanks with swirl? Thought they were mpi or even carb?

Spi tank has a swirl pot inside tank, all injection vauxhalls run a pot of some sort

and the gte/gsi is also inside the tank aye?

correct, you are learning.

The pump isn't inside the tank on this one,
The GTE/GSI/SRI ran an external pump, so if you buy this type of tank you also need the rest of the set up, ie, pick up pipe sender, external pump, mounting plates and cradle.

IMO, get a 1.2 nova SPI tank and fit an MPI pump from a C16SE engined mk3 Astra, there are other cars you can get the pump from too,

just bought a gsi tank and sender, surely i can use a mk3 pump with this also?
will just have to make up a bracket of some kind

Mk3 Astra pump is mounted inside the tank so won't fit

You'll need the external stuff mate,
