What are you guys running front brake wise?

I have a C20XE with Astra GTE discs and calipers up front. To be honest after yesterday, i think they are crap!!

So, suggestions please! Obviously they have to fit under 15" alloys.

Links and/or prices would be great!

what discs and (more importantly) pads are you running. how were they 'crap'?
good bite but fade?
loss of pedal?
good/bad when hot/cold?
poor all round performance?

256mm set up with good disc and pads are one of the best set up. Get some proper pads and discs and you'll be must happier.

as above ive got 256mm disks on mine and the pedal is good and firm, just get a decent disk and pad combo and try doing a brake fluid change to see if it improves it

I think i will invest in some better brake fluid (i have boggo euro car parts special at the mo!) and some pads and discs.

Then see how that goes.

I *think* they are EBC groved and drilled discs, unknown pads.

Yesterday during my session the pedal went straight to the floor. After that they felt abit "spongy". Second session they seemed ok. Just considering an upgrade. I also felt that because of my poor brakes i was perhaps letting off, then braking.

Bite isnt too bad but could be better.

Straight to the floor = boiled fluid.
Change that and try again.

Drilled and grooved discs are a waste of time, lesson for the future ;) but ok to kill the current ones.
M1144 are the bare minimum spec for keen use and go up from there.

Did think the fluid was at fault. Thats top of my shopping list!

So M1144 pads...cool. Disc recommendations??

Cheers Stu.

Plain pikey discs from any motorfactors.

Get the right scary pads and the disc becomes the consumable :)

Fair shout! Cheers, also mine are not drilled. In actual fact they have the dimples....lol not that it matters.

I have just fitted my ate brake on my new merit and they don't feel as good as they did on my gsi I'm think either due to the good ridge hose but more likey cos of the better servo on the gsi,
