1.3s engine and gearbox

Hi guys,

Iv recently bought a 2 door mk2 astra estate. Its got a 1.3s engine that runs well and a 4 speed gearbox. I know the autograss boys like these but is there any particular gearbox code that they prefer or will it need stripping to count the teeth on the crownwheel and pinion etc?

the gearing that auto grassers and oval racers want is normally found in the mk1 astra. the only real way to tell what cluster you have is to count the teeth on the second gear cog and divide it by the number of teeth on the cog it meshes with. As for the diff look at the pinion wheel on the cluster if it has no notches in the face of the teeth it is a 4.1 if it has 1 notch its a 4.5 2 notches is a 4.3 3 notches i think is a 3.7 and 5 notches is a 3.9.
