Ive been looking at big brake conversions, just looking for some advice. which ones are better wilwood or Hi spec?

I quite like the look of the Hi spec 300mm kits anyone got any experience with them?

Is there any other kits you could recommend?

cheers

Barry

I'm not up on which brakes will be best but what wheels will you be using?
It may help others to help you regarding what fits best under your wheels.

wildwood there on the rally car so with some correctly selected material on the pads, they are good for any application pretty much. road use, track rallying??? that's the main question. Ive manage to get some 320mm x 30mm hi specs under speedlines but the tolerances weren't good enough for my liking

Thanks for that, I should have out a bit more info in my questions lol the car will be used occasionally on the road, track and drag but itl have 500bhp+ so I need something to slow her down safely :)

You'll be limited by your wheel choice unless your front wings will be wider than stock? As once you use spacers needed for some of the kits to fit you will possibly then have tyre/arch issues even if your not running particularly low. A few members on here run the dynalite kit from wilwood and they squeeze behind allesios just. I've tried a high spec kit behind allesios and without an approx 10mm spacer it wouldn't happen. I've also run the reyland 308mm kit which again required 5mm spacers to clear allesios but they went straight behind mo's with no trouble. Your only other option is have a kit Machined to suit your spec. See my next wip update for help with this.

Nick.

Dynalites get my vote with ds2500 pads that's what I'm saving for

Thanks for the help much appreciated :)

Well here's A link to the ones I was first after but if I need spacers etc I'll probably just get the wilwood ones. Also I'll have original width wings aswell.

Dynalites are the model on ours. we ran ds500 pads but have since changed to friction performace pads on the 280 discs. they work well for tarmac events. cant remember what spacer I needed with the speedlines over the hispec kit but the calipers ended up close to the bells

How about these?

Would they be recommended? Or is the dynalite ones better?

I run Midilites. With Mintex M1144s. Fantastic when warmed up. Ment to fit behind a Speedline ok, i have to use a 3mm spacer tho.

It's the Midilites that fit behind the Speedlines. The Dynalites need a spacer.

by the way, do you have the tyres to back up the brake capacity? As its those that 'really' limit the ultimate stopping ability.

So the 310mm midlites should fit behind the speedlines ok?

I haven't decided on tires yet but will be r888, ao48 or something similar. Thanks for the help guys :)

I'm only on 280mm setup. The bigger ones definitely won't as the spokes curve into towards the outside of the wheel.

Can just about fit a credit card between my setup and the back of the spokes.
