Starter solenoid fouling gear linkage

I've come across a problem with the starter motor on my 1300 nova. I got a refurbished Bosch motor but the positioning of the solenoid means it fouls the rose jointed hear linkage stopping the selection of 1st and 3rd. Has anyone else found this? Is there a solution or is it a different motor?

I had the same problem when I tried a mk2 Astra starter in a corsa

It seems to be a problem with Bosch starters when used with the rose jointed linkage. I don't know if the problem persists with the standard linkage or not, presumably not or you would think the motor factors would have seen it before.

When comparing the solenoid positioning on the body of the starter with the one I took off (Delco Remy). The original solenoid was positioned at 10 o'clock when looking at the NDE of the starter, on the Bosch its at 9 o'clock.

My local factors are getting mine refurbished and returning it to me.
