smooth engine bays

awhile ago i saw a pic of a nova whichch had a smoothed firewall in the engine bay, ie there was no wiper motor mounted to it or relays or nethin. obviously the smoothing is just a bit of welding n rerunnin wires but wot about the wiper motor does ne have ne ideas as it links through the firewall to the wiper linkage? could i shorten the linkage and put it in the gap behind the firewall? (the one like the battery well but on the otherside)
