View Full Version : battery acid
Yesterday going to have another attempt at getting my mates morris minor to start, his battery fell over in my boot and a bit if acid leaked. I removed seats etc and dried it all with a towel.
Is there likely to be any long term damage or is the acid pretty weak?
I would have attempted to neutralize it with water.
If you do get any ill-effects, it will only be similar to what usually happens to a battery tray.
it eventually rots pretty much everything except some plastics. i agree with l14mnp, water is probably the best thing to use to thin it down massively.
if you want dodgy brainiac science, chuck some bicarbonate of soda onto the wet patch....it will fizz like hell & make hydrogen... the more dangerous amongst us will already have a naked flame nearby for the full effect lol lol lol

An alkali would neutralise it. Try some milk or Gaviscon lol
you'll be advising the OP to try bouncing it on his knee & patting its back next lol lol
OK, I'll strip the inside and wash it out tomorrow (assuming it's not a wet day).
I was thinking to put some handsoap in too as I think that is alkaline?
