Have you bought the Haynes lo-cost manual?

That will tell you all you need to know, then simply adapt the plans and materials to suit.

http://www.haynes.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10001&storeId=10001&productId=40805&langId=-1

You are unlikely to get decent plans for anything else on the web but the locust has a good following and simple construction and techniques.

cheers lover boy :thumb: - the locost design seems like a decent base for info. lots of 1 inch box section slapped together in a strong custom arrangement :)
its always been a bit of a dream of mine to create something abit nutty and test run it on track. I was thinking of plopping the front end components of an xe cavalier onto the back end of a custom frame, single seat and basic brakes / steering. small petrol tank and the rad up front. knock up some fibreglass panels to cover the front end.
the Haynes might be a winner too, will have to look into that :thumb: cheers

The locost is an "ok" chassis, but something to only use as a rough reference and then to design something proper.

Locost isnt the best obviously. but as requested, the book contains the processes of puting one together. the design is as simple as youl get purely for ease of construction. no tube bending or notching. no fancy jig.

take what you.need from the book and build your own design to suit your ability, running gear and budget

if you can find something like a scrap chevette, you could rob the complete front axle, steering & suspension unit as one. it would make life a load simpler.

why not make something really crazy, keep the cav running gear in the front & make a reverse trike chassis..
