View Full Version : mk 1 turbo alternator pulley catching need help

finally got my mk 1 turbo on the road and the alternator pulley is catching the chassis leg when turning or giving it some n im going to fill the mounts with some paste i got from work that hardens like a rubber but iv been told to put a shortened belt on aswell any ideas ?? im stuck

Hi I have the same problem with mine what I've done is removed the rear mount and slotted the holes so it can be.moved over towards the belt cover I havnt fitted it yet as only done it today hopefully this will fix the issue. Other than that you will havt to try and beat the leg in.a bit I tried this but its hard with engine in place. You can get the pully turned down aswell. Will let you know of it works..

Have you notched the chassis leg? Ie cut a pice out to clear the alternator?

yes. its the first thing you should do before getting the welder out to weld the strengthening plates in.
