1200 st head on 1600se bottom end?

Could you match a1600 bottom end to a 1200 head/carb setup and it would work with little to no issues?
Any thoughts and info please guys.

That's going to higher the compression a lot I would think

It would increase the compression afaik but the valves are smaller on a 12ST head and the carb would not supply enough fuel

Because I've seen a bottom end and gearbox for sale for peanuts, and thought if it could work would be an improvement on a 1200 in my mk1

I guess you could run it in a detuned state
