Haven't been pulled over since I stopped driving my nova lollollol

However last time I was stopped, copper gave the excuse that I "didn't look right in the vehicle", I asked what he meant and he said, "well the nova is a small car"...

I told him, that yes I was fat but there was no need for fcuking blues and twos to tell me about it... I was on my way home from a late shift at work...

Got pulled in mine the day i finished building it last year. Accidently pulled out in front of an unmarked 5 series and burned off up the bypass. Copper was very sound, and quite impressed at how quick it was for a Nova.

Got pulled in my Van a few months back for no insurance. Only a technicality which was quickly sorted, but managed to get 10k in on all the major motorways before getting stopped.

Was pulled over in my old nova like 9-10 years ago, then in the yellow almost two years back due to fact I had green L pass plates on as the missus was learning/driving it etc, the cop pulled me as he thought I was driving to enthusiastically for a new driver lol and told me to not set a bad example.

About 10 years ago i had to make a complaint after being pulled 14 times in a year. All because i worked nights and drove home through the town centre, didnt get pulled again. Till about 3 years ago over my rear plate.

8 years ago when i was a new driver i went through a phase where i was getting pulled pretty much every night, sometimes twice!! This lasted easily 3 months. Looking back i should have filed a proper complaint for harassment, but then again, i guess i was a bit of a cnut back then lol. I still get stopped from time to time for 'routine checks' and stuff...

Not owned a nova since '08 mind, so maybe i just look dodgy or summat....

Never been pulled over but when I had the Nova TD I had a police car pull up outside the house to tell me I went past them "a bit quick" and to keep it steady "because er, um.... it's a residential area and... people"

It was about 3am lol

Sometimes they just cant be arsed to pull people even when they are committing an offence though.

For example, last week i was running rather late for work. Was sat at some red lights and unbeknown to me i had a police van behind me. Lights went green and i took off, accelerating to about 40mph in a 30 zone. Checked my mirror and i see this van sat right on my backside. I thought bloody hell thats three points, didnt bother slowing down cos he obviously knew what speed i was doing. Came to brake for a junction and realised i hadnt replaced a blown brake light bulb so thought id be getting done for that too. Was behind me all the way until i turned into the street i work on, where he had to manoevour round me as i sat in the road waiting to pull across, never even looked at me. I reckon it must have been nearly the end of his shift lol

They can only "do you" for speeding if the vehicle they are driving is equipped with the relevant equipment - usually this means it needs to be a traffic car.

I remember many years ago a friend being pulled over in his Racing Puma for 120 on a dual carriageway by a copper in a berlingo van. The copper took great pride in advising that the driving licence may be lost, etc etc. However, no charges or endorsements were forthcoming as the van was merely a panda car and had nothing calibrated to record the excess speed.

I got pulled a few times last year in the Gsi vectra b. happened when I was making my way home from a late shift at work, so close to 4 in the morning. Second time I was stopped the cops passed me and did a 'u' turn and came after me. When i asked the copper why he stopped me. He said; "you look like a hood sir"! People do get pulled for what they drive, and how they drive.

back in the day, i got pulled regularly near coventry... but i was usually coming back from my girlfriends (we got married eventually) in the early hours..... remarkably, it was usually road tax, tyres & drink driving road checks.... if they'd found out that i'd just driven the previous 60 miles at approx a ton, they might have kept me in.....

i once had an amazing escape... before the towcester bypass was built, you had to drive thru the village.. at 2am, it was a flat out blast & i came round a bend at 90 ish to find a traffic car dawdling along at the speed limit.. i managed to slow up, but they pulled into the next layby, and then pulled out & followed me for the next 25miles... i've never driven as legally as that before or since.

Unfortunately not - looked into this the other day and the law basically says a copper needs some evidence to support his suspicion (note suspicion, they don't even need to record your actual speed) of you speeding. This could be anything from an electronic measurement device, to a stopwatch, or even just another copper saying "Ooh yeah, he looks like he's going a bit quick" lol

Rubbish! If a copper pulls you for speeding, and he is only in a panda car, without proper detection equipment installed, the only way you can be done is if you admit you were speeding and accept a fixed penalty ticket at the time. Any other police evidence has to be able to stand up in court (on board cameras and calibrated equipment which has been calibrated and checked).

Jack
15-04-13, 09:52 AM
I didn't say it would get a conviction lol But in terms of being admissible evidence, anything could be used. Obviously stuff like electronic devices would be more reliable and more likely to get a conviction than just two coppers thinking you were going a bit quick.

actually, I lie, once in a nova, but that was because a passenger of mine threw a ciggy butt out the window, and they told me it was illegal to do so.... (was a new one on me) but apparently its a littering law. aint they got better things to do

I got stopped in my old 1.2, it was silly o'clock in the morning and I was heading back from work. I was happy they were checking it wasn't getting twoc'd.

Not been pulled in the 3.2 which is a shame, would be satisfying watching them check that its all legal and declared.

I have heard of, but not confirmed, someone getting prosecuted (but not necessarily convicted) because he had a welded diff and his tyres squealed around a roundabout, which the police used as an indication that he was speeding.

That reminds me, I have actually been asked if my car was all legal as it died on me the first day it was on the road... I rolled it into a car park at the base of Reading police station lol

He came out for a fag I think and just asked me straight if it was all declared, didn't seem interested in actually checking it out after I said it was.

The only car I got pulled in was my nova, once for causing a disturbance (was sat outside a friends house on tick over, standard exhaust :s ) once coz they had nothing better to do and I got a warning coz some civic boys had been revving the nuts off their cars with their 12 inch exhausts and someone complained not long before I turned up, wrong place wrong time!

I used to get pulled over in my nova all the time, was always for something pointless. got pulled in the gt4 a few times aswell, i got off with a cracker one time me and this guy in a clio v6 were tanking it down some road (not going to state how fast as ill get flamed for it) and a police car was coming from the opposite direction so on came the blue lights and me and this guy were in about all these small side streets pulled over for a yap and a few mins later the police car pulled up! He was on his own though so after a proper talking to we were off the hook.

I did in the 3.0, which was amusing. Two bored traffic cops in Dorset doing 'random' (lolz) spot checks. They were actually Ok though, had a good yak with them about cars.

i hate the stigma that comes with owning a nova. theres loads of kids who've had a license for 5 minutes driving new audi's round here at the minute, racking up speeding points like pokemon cards who never get pulled by the fuzz because they see it as a 'respectable' car. but i garantee that when my nova's back on the road it'll be a regular occurance (even though i've been driving for 8 years with no points or claims)

Welded diff is an mot fail now, and classed as a defect. It could see the owner of a sierra with a welded diff being prosecuted for using a vehicle in a dangerous condition, believe it or not. But as proof of speeding, I doubt it. :o)
