seen a nova for sale but has a redtop in it but is down as a 1.4..anyone know the cost of getting it all swoped over so its all proper?

Only the cost of the additional tax. Updating details on a V5 is free.

Tax the V5 along to your local office. You'll need insurance, MOT and evidence of the engine swap - receipt for the work, independent inspection, manufacturer confirmation, etc. You can then get the tax sorted there and then over the counter and they'll send the V5 off to get sorted for you.

yes id say so as 1.6 in the higher tax bracket etc as well as other legal 'gubbins'

Yeah, 1.2 > 1.6 is a change in tax class so they could chase you for tax evasion if they really wanted to.

According to the letter of the law though, any incorrect information on a V5 (that even includes colour!!) is an offence, so always best to keep things up to date.

As said though, always go to the local DVLA office in person for things like this. Its so much easier doing it over the counter with a real person rather than having to post forms off to them and risk getting things lost.
