Had my mot today & the tester remarked on my pedal being really stiff,i've always thought it was a bit myself..any tips or tricks to free it a bit? Or is it a nova thing? I havent driven another one in a while so have nothing to compare it to.

One thing I remember about driving mine was the pedal was stiff, maybe just a nova thing

probably the cable, or the pivot on the pedal.

shouldnt be stiff, especially if an MOT tester has picked up on it.

if its as bad as that its a wonder it doesnt stick open?!

Take the cable of the pedal and see if the pedal moves freely, then check the cable moves and last thing see if the flap opens easily on the throttle body

It was a new cable last year, its done less than 250 miles its free enough up at the throttle body but just seems a really stiff pedal.

if the throttle body and pedal are free, the cable is new...there's nothing else.

the start of the cam on the throttle body is steep to give a fast response from a long pedal, thats the only thing that could give a naturally 'stiff' pedal.

The tester was probably just jealous.

he didnt complain though did he?

'pedal' is a euphemism in MOT tester talk.

if its an xe just remove the spring by the pedal, the throttle body pulls it back fine

Just to follow up on this as nobody ever does when they manage to get it fixed..after having been at a show recently and had a feel of bazil's pedal (ooh err lol) on his gsi i have since sprayed my cable/return spring with loads of gt85 and that seems to have worked :)
