MAHLE pistons

Did mahle make the pistons in the 1.2 carb engines (12ST)? Or were they GM. Reason being I pulled one out of an engine yesterday to check the bearings for wear and while measuring noticed MAHLE stamped inside them. They also had some code numbers, one of which was 97 in a circle (which could be the date stamp, in which case they are definitely after-market, lol).

anyone know the exact measurement for the original piston diameter so I can check if they are oversized?

well the original piston sizes come in a range from 77.745mm to 77.896

so i'd hazard a guess that theres prolly been summat like a snapped cam belt and theyve replaced the valves and pistons when theyve fixed it
