im selling a engine and the buyer wants to see the stamp on the block for proof petty i know as its quite obviouse in the pic but i cant find it

What engine is it?

Big blocks have it along the front edge of the block where it meets the gearbox

Small blocks like the SE SB have it on the deck of the block near no4 cylinder

thanks its a 1.2 small block. i take it that i should be looking by the oil filter?

You'll probably need to clean it to see it, usually quite faint

This is very like what your looking for ( obviously this is a gearbox but its similar style to engine numbers)

i still cant find it, ive just wire brushed the whole block

It's on a ledge on the right hand side will get you a pic soon

look at the ledge sticking out directly underneath the sparkplug closest to the gearbox.

It is on that lip/ledge which comes out from the block face that mounts to cylinder head. Scrape off dirt/emery cloth it and it will be something like 12ST++++++ under there if its a 12ST
