I always wanted a 2.8i Capri when I was younger, but would never swap my Rover Vitesse for one now

Yep Tickford, as in the crazy ******* engine division who also supplied to aml, hence the wings on the Capri.

I love Capris, especially in black. Closest thing this country had to a US muscle car really, in terms of looks/affordability at least. Almost bought one instead of one of my Novas back in the day, when they were still seen on the roads.

That looks good for a Crapi, still think Manta's are the better looking car. Prob me being biased though.

Tbh the fact its a Capri is irrelevant, its the fact its a Tickford weapon :)

I think Tickford also built the Cavalier Calibre's and also did a limited edition Calibra but that had no engine mods.

They also had a hand in the Maestro Turbo, RS500 Cosworth, RS200, Ford Puma Racing and Jag XJS convertible.
They are now owned by Prodive apparently.

Stuart

Not been owned by prodrive since 05, and has been sold again last dec lol

Can't see the interior, but I wonder if these are the ones that have the same seats as my Escort?
I know one limited run Capri does.

£18K

85 produced, about 40 survive according to one ad.

I looked at the seats, they look like typical Recaros. That's my curiosity satisfied then lol.

Are you adding a turbo to your van and do the leak off mod and turn the pump up lol

Some find that a tickford! Around £10k upwards these days. My dad has a turbo 2.8i not a tickford tho and I still have my capri. Love capris always will. Where was this too? A guy down this way had a black tickford with a big sound system but sold it a few years ago after he stuffed it into the barrier at the ring.

Saw a white 2.8i tonight. Was looking a bit rough mind!
IMO, the Brooklands are the best looking of the mass-produced mk3's.

Yeah I agree the 280 brooklands still look quite modern in comparison to other cars their age. My capri looks like a 280 but is White, has 280 wheels, did have 280 interior to but that's now in my dads 2.8i.

sorry, but they handled terribly & the engines weren't powerful enough......oops, thats every car sold in the 70's & 80's...lol lol

the capri's running gear was basic even by late 60's standards, when it was launched... the v6 is too heavy. so as long as you like getting the back end out at any speed you like, whether you are trying to or not, this is the car for you...

ps. the manta b was actually the cavalier coupe first, so it was british.. and they handled way better

The bad handling is a myth! The early ones were terrible due to have 5.5" wheels with 70 series tyres and a high ride height. The early handling problems everyone assumed they all handled crap afterwards. Iv had 10 of them all types and my current one is over 400hp and they do go sideways but not in any gear! They share the same running gear to mk1&2 escorts and they handle well!

Stuart

And what were you driving in the 50's/60's/70's and 80's thats for whatever bizarre reason worth lots of money still ? lol

i've actually driven a late mk3 at something vaguely approaching speed, when it was maybe 2 years old.... it wallowed & the axle tramp when attempting a fast start was awful..

leaf springs with fat tyres do not give decent handling on a rwd car. you need anti tramp bars and decent damping as a minimum.
