Got a freebie stereo out a car that came into my work, worked fine, went to put it into my Nova and it won't fit. I was told to buy a connector from Halfruads which I did and it said it was for Nova's but still doesn't fit ? Any ideas ? I was thinking of taking the stereo in and showing the bit where it plugs in and just saying I bought the connector but it still doesn't fit ?

This is all new to me and sorry for the essay.

Nah the plug doesn't fit into the loom so I bought a connecter which plugs into the loom then into the stereo but even the connecter doesn't go into the stereo. Not sure if it would need to be a custom one or something

What stereo is it? if its a car specific one rather than an aftermarket one with a standard iso connector, then you may have to wire it up yourself.

the nova was fitted with a standard ISO10487 connector.

It's likely that over the years thats been hacked off and fitted with some proprietary connector to suit some specific wireless set.

some radio sets are fitted with an ISO socket on the rear, others have a proprietary connector with a lead to an ISO socket as an adapter that comes with the radio.

As said, pics would be helpful simply saying "it wont fit" doesn't give people much to go on.

You need the plug for that model of radio, search eBay using the radio model number and you might get lucky,

Might be worth keeping that Halfords lead just now,

If you get a plug for the back of the radio it might not has an ISO end so you could use the Halfords lead to splice onto the new plug, if you catch my drift

good point!:thumb:

ye the lead you get might not have an ISO socket so you could make a real tidy job if you use it to splice the new lead into the correct plug.
