No.

Honestly, the first thing I did was download something to make it look and act like windows 7. I can't stand it, it's not logical at all. I had to google how to turn off the dam computer. Fine if you've got a touch-screen, ball-ache if you haven't.

I thought there were settings to make it more like traditional windows?

I think it's very good, but I was running XP lol

Seems more suited to a touchscreen

I've got it and its not to bad. Just getting used to it. On the home screen you can have an app called "desktop" when you click on it it takes you straight to your traditional windows desktop. Windows 8 is much like the windows phone. Has a lot of apps for weather, news, emails, etc

My Dad got a new laptop with W8 on it, he didn't have a clue and ended up going back to his 7 year old laptop with XP on it until I installed Start8 to make it usable.

I reverted back to W7 because it's horrific to use.

Ive downloaded Classic Shell which makes it look like Win7, but it sometimes gets a bit clunky especially on initial start up.

One good thing I have found with Win8 is it starts up very quickly.
