Just wondered if anyone has had issues with these cars? I'm looking into getting a diesel more then likely the 160 one. So if anyone has had any problems that I need to be on the look out for I'd appreciate it. Cheers

Hatchbacks, if you open the tailgate when the car is wet, it will deposit the collected water at the bottom of the rear screen, straight in the boot! all over your gear

If you do less than 20 miles per trip the. After a few days the dpf and egr will clog.... Classy.

My commute is 20miles and is thankfully the last thing putting me off a gm wagon.

Why oh why would you ever buy any diesel car to do that short drive!!!?

I know a couple of guys who had insignia dervs and had the dpf clog in short runs and return worse mpg than the vxr lol

because when he uses his cars other then getting to work , he goes on massive hikes in wales and other far and distant lands lol and his mum lives 100 miles away and thats a trip he makes often right now

only reason he is getting one and her mum is getting a Adam :roll: is because they can get a 35% discount on any new or used vauxhall, so the people that told me all other cars then fords are **** for the last few years have become turn coats lol

I've got a 2.0 160 CDTI SRI nav insignia and not a single problem with. I do short journeys of under 20miles and it returns good mpg, nothing has clogged up and it's regularly serviced. I give mine a good long run about once a month along the motorway and can't fault it. Lovely to drive, comfy seats ( although I have the full leather option)
I'd say go for it. Won't be disappointed. I bought a diesel as I regularly visit my family 200miles away and the insignia out shone the rest.

Do the elites still have that hideous faux wood trim? Thats what really puts me off the 'top' (snigger) model vauxhalls :(

Yes they do, it put me off to be honest. I prefer mine with a piano black trim on a carbon flash black body

I drive a CDTI 160 Tourer in "carbon flash" or black;

Had it since new and its just over 2 years old and has 63k on currently. Not the best car I have had sadly and has had a few issues;

- Clutch master cylinder link from pedal snapped leaving me stranded, its a bit of plastic
- Various electrical issues, such as wingmirrors stopping working at 1 month old and Vauxhall not being able to find the problem
- Boot release issues (intermittant)
- DMF vibration from about 40k onwards
- Diff knocks when taking up drive (several people who also have them at work have had gearbox and/or diffs replaced)
- Gears notchy
- Abysmal headroom in the rear
- Poor load space for an "estate"

On the plus side, its a powerful enough engine and returns good MPG. Its also fairly comfy - though in all honesty the Vectra 1.9 CDTi 150 I had previously was a far better car.

^ This - they are surprisingly small on the inside for a 'big' car (or at least one that feels big).

I had one as a hire car once to pick up a load of kit from Benson and it really struggled with a couple of servers, laptops and printers. The old Vec C works hack we had was much better in terms of usability.

oh... sod that completely then.
We looked at 156's a while back and the saloon had a bigger load space than the estate lol good ole wavy arms.

my dads got a 1.9 cdti sri and he's had problems with his mpg, he's been getting an average in the high 20s. took it back to vauxhall who claimed there was nothing wrong it and blamed his driving. so he reset it and tried hypermiling..... still got no higher than 30mpg. A bloke i was talking to in work afew months ago also had the same.

^ the MPG on mine didnt really settle down till it had done 25k. I was gutted when I first got it as it averaged 30mpg ish when my Vectra did 60mpg easily.

It now averages 48mpg, and will do 40mpg towing the caravan on a run which isnt bad really.

They are certainly nowhere near as roomy as the Vectra, and probably compare more to a Mk5 Astra estate

Don't get tempted by the lower powered diesel (130?). Underpowered in a heavy lump like an Insignia

I was thinking the insignia tourer 160 tbh. But I also thought about a 3 series estate or a signam. Just want a. Decent enough estate that can carry a every growing family on camping trips, tow the nova on track days and be a smart looking family car. I'm also gonna get a passat tdi for the mrs, the newer sleeker looking one. I did think about the estate version of that also. But I'm not having his and hers cars on the drive.

I'm looking for a replacement estate for the passat, and the 3 or 5 series is top of my list but also on there is the derv subaru legacy in ren spec... Very nice car and well specced.

if you do buy the insigna, look at the 130 model and get it remapped, may save you few quid rather than buying the 160bhp model,

they both give bother with the dpf, be carefull if you do buy one if the dpf gives bother, as said the egr will be affected, dpf pressure and temp sensors and turbo may also be affected , seen these needing replaced if the car doesnt regenerate the dpf properly during your daily drive,
if you get the dpf removed , via a professional remapping company . make sure to research the company before hand, because the new generation vauxhall engine dont run well after the removal
