bit of help please folks..

I'm not a mechanic and don't know much about cars, but I know enough to get by, so i'm looking for some reassurance..

yesterday i jacked her up fine but where i put it it kinda cracked the paint on the side skirt so i'm thinking iv'e clearly put it in a place where it should'nt be and im not sure where the jacking point is at, at the rear. also i'm looking to put the car on axle stands so it would help if anyone can tell me where to put them most suitable...

i think its just sills and rear axle

On the front the chassis rails will be your best bet as they are solid. As for the rear along he sill there is like an indent where you are supposed to jack it up at because they are reinforced.

I use chassis leg at the front where the outriggers are. I use the sill at the back but put some sponge or cardboard on the pads to protect the paint.

I hate the sills too. I jack mine up under the front chassis legs, front tie bar bracket, rear beam, roll cage b pillar mount... Anywhere but the sill ha ha

I hardly ever use the chassis legs to jack up a nova,

The front jack point is about 6" from the splash guard on the sill, there is an indent there and your skirts are cut out at the same point, this area is ment to used as it is where the chassis leg outrigger and the A post meet, also the sill runs past so the weight is evenly distributed along the sill, into the chassis leg and up the A post,

If your nova crumbles there when jacking it up then it's time for a new shell.

Just remember that when a nova is put on a jig they use these jacking points to clamp onto for a reason.

The rear is a similar story, chassis leg, outer quarter, inner quarter and sill all join where the jacking point is.

Just my opinion :)

But if people were to follow that theory and have side skirts fitted (like me) it would catch them. So i use the out riggers on the front and for the rear, slap bang in the middle of the beam.

Nathan....

They are only ment for the std Vauxhall scissor jack tho. If using anything else use the chassis leg out riggers on the front. And the rear beam on the back.
