Hey folks,

Since I sold the caddy at the weekend I am now on the lookout for a recovery van/truck. I have two transit recovery trucks to look at tomorrow and was wondering is there any common faults or things to look out for?

Any bad places to check for rust etc???

Thanks,

Smiley front trannys are pretty bomb proof. Not that quick, but reliable. Rust is what kills them off. New age tdci transits are sh!.te. Diesel pump and injector problems are rife.

Iv got a 1994 transit recovery truck, as mentioned above rust is an issue. Mine leaks a little water and oil but apart from that it is a real good truck. Parts are cheap and still readily available, the way I look at it is if the engine blew on this they are around on ebay for £150 ish - thats if you can break it!

The later transits are still good money for engines/boxes etc and as again said above injectors and pumps are weak.

How much did you want to spend?
