Alright guys, my 2dr saloon is sliding around all over the place at the minute and i'm not enjoying it! I guess the 5.5" tires aren't helping, and the roads are always horrible around here. Got plenty of tread, and all pumped up etc..

I'm desperate to get 7" tires on there, but i don't know which steelies or ally is needed for that size. Would 185/60/14 4 stud fit?

Can anyone help me? i need to know what'll fit for sure. And if anybody has got 4 wheels for sale please let me know! The wider the better, and if they're on banded steels or something thats cool too.

I'm a bit broke atm but the rents are willing to help me out as its not particularly safe atm, I can't spend masses so if anything under £200 would be ideal.

Thanks

The roads condition are poor with all the salt/rain, etc

The make of tyre also has a significant influence on performance

What are you running currently? rim size, width? and tyres size, brand/ type

What do you mean by 5.5" / 7" tyres?

Wider tyre does not necessarily equal more grip!

I've got some 16" Astra alloys available (see link in sig) but they need new tyres.

Yeah they're horrendous round here, gets so damn greasy its nasty. I currently have standard 13" steels, i think they're probably 145mm wide. And i believe they're firestone, just cheapy £40 per corner jobby.

I wasn't too sure about correct tyre info so i meant width, I think 16" is a bit to much chap. If i can get 185/60/14 on it that'd be quality, I do alot of delivery driving in any conditions so i guess some nice grippy winter tyres would do the job..

I run 185/60/14, and they are a good choice in my opinion.

I have a set of alloys with legal 185/60/14 tyres on if interested;

£100 collected/or can courier for extra £30

165/70r13 tyres on the std rims will make a massive difference.. they won't look too cool unless you get them on old astra mk1 rims, but the car will handle

This is my old 'loon, tyres were 135/75/13 I think bud! The tyres were brand new when I bought it, personally I found it quite good in snow because the skinny tyres cut through it! lol
Hope she's still going strong! :)
