How do you count the teeth on a diff to work out the ratio?

Count teeth on crownwheel (big gear) and count the pinion (small gear) then divide the bigger number by the smaller number and youll get an answer like 3.96 or 3.74.

Dont forget to mark the start tooth so you dont forget and wind up counting round about 10 times ( VOE ) lol

tipex is your friend. I mark each 10 off now.

.... actually if it is small block cwp's you can tell what it is from the number of notchs, if you do a search on here you will find the post I did on it.
