Don't buy a Snap-On. I had a Turbo 130 POS for a while. They're just re-badged Sealey iirc. Which should be no issue, but I couldn't get a swan neck anywhere for the thing.

Clarke stuff is OK, and easy to get service parts. I have a 175 TE (iirc) and, occasional erratic wire feed aside. It's a decent machine. (for the mioney)

If I was buying again, I would be an older second hand better machine though.
I don't like little MIGs that take hobby bottles and kid-sized wire reels either.

My sealy 180 is pre historic, beaten up to fcuk but still sticks 2mm tin together, best £50 ever!

Had a wee shat-on 130 too, pretty poor IMO,

The only thing I've had to do to my sealy was replace the earth and put a new torch on it,

THIS COMMENT IS UTTER SHAT THEY ARE MADE BY CEBORA !!!!!!!!!!! ITALION AND WERE THE FIRST TO MAKE THE PORTABLE MIG WELDER if you do buy one for god sake dont buy clarke !!!! thay are an abortion the wire feed motors are crap as BENN says sip are ok if i were on a second budget i would go for a cebora but i do hear that the sealy ones are ok ! if it were me i would stay away from anything apart for a Kempi or Esab

I had issues with a snap on (cebora) 130 as well, it was pretty awful imo, wire feed was crap.

My clarke actually has a fantastic wire feed, can't fault it

got the sealey one im well happy with it they come with a binzel torch what alot say is one of the best torches on market? and the welds are really nice for first go with it. an 3 years warranty so all good.

i spoke to a few pro welders and one had a clark who is really happy with it. he had a snap-on one under his bench an says its crap parts are hard to get evan down to a new torch

other welder said snap-on was crap only pay for the name on a cheap welder

I forgot to say, I converted my Clarke to a Eurotorch, but it was still 95% reliable beforehand.

how long do the small gas bottles last on those badboys ?

what about the gassless ones with the fluxed wire... any good ? ... or is it ALL about the gas

I've had some long welding sessions out of the small disposable bottles. If your only working on the one car then I wouldn't dismiss them entirely, while everyone recommends buying a massive bottle and filling it up, it can be a waste if you'll never use it. The disposables don't last long if you have your hand on the trigger all the time, but in reality with welding your only using it for seconds at a time, so you can get a hell of a lot done. Of course if you have the room for a big refillable bottle and are going to be doing a lot of welding then it makes more sense to go large.
