hi there i have a standard nova mk2 gsi with 20xe.... with astra mk2 256mm grooved discs and calipers on front and standard drums on rear and am replacing complete hoses for braided items and am also replacing lines for a complete copper set... is there anything else i can do to upgrade braking without it costing me a fortune...???? :thumb:

nope thats it unless you go bigger up front but then you will end up with a spongyer pedal, unless you star uprating the disks and pads i would leave at that

Id keep what you have, will be the best braking you'll get.

Look at uprated discs and pads. Oh and good fluid.

Min of 4.1dot. Lots of people like/use that racing blue ATE stuff.

Good set of drilled and grooved disks, and a good set of pads!

There plenty good enough to stop what you've got :)

I used the corsa gsi brakes on mine! stop me lovelllly ;)

simply spend time on refurbing the drum brakes. clean up the adjusters 7 copper grease them, and make sure you either put new drums on, or grind the lip off used ones, so you can adjust them up for assembly. they make a massive difference,

and definitely flush the lines out, buy a pressure bleeder & use expensive fluid

I run ATE super blue on my M3, very good.

Cheapest is euro car parts with a discount code, under £10 for a litre.

ATE superblue is good, but tbh it stains the lines like a muthahubbard and imho is no 'better' than the OEM spec Mintex 5.1 I put in after it.... plus the 5.1 was £3/litre vs £20/litre lol

As said above, stick with the sizes you have, fit plain boggo cheap as chips discs and spend mild cash on the pads (Mintex 1144/1155 or CL 5+'s. NOT EBC)

Is 5.1 fluid ok to use on standard set up....???

Yes.

yep. Dot 4.0 and 5.1 are good, Dot 5.0 is bad (unless you actually need it lol )

Never seen dot 5...

Is it just boiling points and that they break down slower that's the diff?

pretty much, also 5.1 is thinner which is suggested for modern ABS systems.

5.0 was for some odd ball french tat that had hydro brakes and suspension linked or something...

Ah, i fancy that blue stuff... Cause it's blue.
