i think its really sad to see all those old cars. There was one time when someone looked forward to picking up their brand new car, and now they sit in there.

what makes me sad is 15-20 years ago, cars in the scrappies had bodywork like a bag of crisps. Now they look relatively solid even when at the end of their life.

We have only the one free for all scrappy up here. Filled with total crap these days! Nothing interesting in it at all. Not only that but it's filled with Eastern Europeans ready to load a lorry when there is anything worth stripping!

Would love to go to a polish scrappy! Bet there's not a person in sight lol not racist in anyway btw.

There is a crashed XE one on the bay for breaking, (been on there ages) Ste Porter's mrs Claire had one, and Ernie on here had one that was featured in TV, the colour is Calypso Red, and is a stunning colour imo!

We did go and have a look at it, (hence the pics) but now i remember there was a guy that appeared out of an abandoned looking caravan and asked wtf we were doing there, we made up something about wondering if it was for sale (clearly stolen and stripped IMO) he said something i barely understood about it being his sons and might sell bits from it, went back the week after and it was long gone!

I remember the days when the Upullit yard was Simpsons Salvage and there would always be 10-20 Novas for sale in the salvage yard and the same amount in the breakers section!

I love a good mince round a scrappers, my local one is great and even got a few membes on here using it, recently had a g reg mk2 Astra estate in with 29,000 miles on it! The front end of it is going on my old one I think, also got in an S reg cavalier hatch 1.7td in. I've never seen one before, I used to see it locally driving about before I ended up in the scrappers. I'll try n get pics this week

I miss going to scrap yards and finding my own goodies, all of them around us now are very strict and the guys who work in them ask what you want and then go get bits for you... My toolbox is now always empty lol

Looms' in Derby is a great yard. You can walk around it all and pick your own parts. Got some cracking bits from there over the years. I used to go most weekends but not been for a few months. It is the same old story, there used to be loads of Nova's in there including SR's & GTE's etc. Now your lucky to even get a poverty spec Mk2 5dr.
Last half decent one I got bits off, a low mileage early Mk1 I took the tailgate and a couple of other bits off. I think that was a couple of years ago now!

I posted this last summer,found this at another local one.this scrappy used to let you have a wander & get on with it but now you have to put on a hi-vis vest & a staff member takes you to a car & stays with you,crap & no fun at all :(

Love scrap yards. Unfortunately the one which was open 364 days a year, and the road leading to it was akin to the surface of the moon, owned by "A fiver, son" man shut up shop one day.

We've lost loads of cool ones over the last few years, still have some crackers though.
Including one that is housed mostly in a decrepid old bus shed, cars 4-5 high, Reliant Kitten upside down in a skip etc.

You know the type. The best ones! :d

lol I'm pretty sorted, except for needing a sunroof seal mate.

I stripped and refurbed mine to get rid of the rust under the glass, and don't really want to refit the old seal as it had been rubbing (sunroof mech was on the piss) and is a mess on one corner.

I'll buy a whole sunroof from a mk3 or 4. Not bothered about it being a bronze one, just I have sort of shot myself in the foot. Thought a seal, or a non-OSF sunroof would be easy to find. Wrong!

I need the seal before I bond the glass back onto the frame.

Bet you aren't after that bit? lol

That 4i you found probably had one come to think of it. Any chance of checking for me?

If its because its probably had a valver in it, that will most probably have gone before it reached the scrappy, or the lads at the scrappy had it before it went on 'general release' id guess!

I think we have one of the best yards around. The place is massive and they let you wander where you want. Had some great stuff from there over the years. Most recently I have had a few EPAS columns for £15 each :)
