Is that similar to Rated people? My plasterer friend gets lots of work from the site. Apparently you bid for jobs that the public post up and then they pick who they want. You get feedback which helps your reputation on the site.

so you buy the job by bidding, or is the bid a blind estimate on a job?

I wouldn't use either on the basis of their irrtitating as feck radio adverts.

lol I'm the same, but I'm just wondering if its a decent resource that I'm over looking rated people is only 160 quid a yeart so its cheaper then getting adds in a lot of papers

tj, you simply can't see a landscape job on a piccy on a website & then quote without seeing the job.....if you do, you will get hung out to dry

the best way is to make a nice simple. well thought out flier, print loads & pound the streets... then do a small sign with your trading name & phone no. & stick it up outside your place, so people think you've just done the work... then put up an ad in the local co-op community board, and everywhere else you can think of.....you could use yours & your missus's surnames as the business name, if it sounds better....
seriously, people of the internet generation are skint... your market is the people who have paid off their mortgages.. so think older..

you could also officially start the business at 7:55pm so you can put on the sign... established 1955 (not that its been done before)lol lol lol

seriously though, resist the urge to do a pikey sign.. by that i mean list everything you've ever heard of.. people get bored very quickly, you have 2 seconds tops to get someones attention. i always wanted to stick an ad in the local rag just for the hell of it advertising 'jippo driveways' lol lol and i bet it gets a response

thanks mate ive got 1000 business cards made up and im going to go post them all around where my birds nan lives and near my old house as there all older down there

can you put stuff up in the co op for free?

i was going to write oap discounts on the back of the cards before posting them, but i dont know how that would be received by people

i personally wouldn't bother on the oap discounts thing...you can try it, but just how much discount do you want to give?? most dodgy people simply load the job, then discount it....relying on peoples inability to see a con.

i think the coey board is like a quid a week, its not going to break the bank..

what name is on the cards??
