Well today I was working on the east coast of scotland south of Edinburgh and on the way I found a small private car museum and thought it rude not to have a peek.

Some gorgeous cars, I used to do a lot of classic car shows, you often go for a drive in convoy, great to see all th e cars moving and hear them.
HOWEVER...I have two points
1. there is no Nova, in my mind the 1980s mini, cheap fun and still going over 20 years after production ceased.
2. The innocenti has either lots of 1990s rover parts fitted (seats, lights, bonnet badge etc) or has been reshelled into a 1990s rover mini.

i always thought the innocenti had loads of later funky bits that bl/rover nicked & used on their cars..
the cars are probably loan exhibits.

The black Morris 1000 was actually painted by my stepdad when it was a bare shell, I remember it at all the classic car shows at culzean castle when I was a wean. Unfortunately the owner past away in really sad circumstances but his wife kept "Wee Blackie" and has put it on show there.
Another fascinating story concerns "Wee Blackie", a 1961 Morris Minor Deluxe Saloon. This was owned by Eddie Anderson of Paisley for 22 years until his death in 2001, and it won him many prizes at vehicles shows. The car has been loaned to the museum by Eddie's widow and is displayed with its bonnet up to show off its utterly pristine engine compartment. To modern eyes the most surprising thing is just how small the engine seems, almost lost within the compartment.

The innocentis had different light fittings/indicators/repeaters etc to all the BL rover ones. Have you seen the dashes they put in them? One thing this car does have which is a shame we never got on minis here is thefront quarter light.
Rover were great for using old parts here though, across the whole rover range right up to the end, the repeaters and some of the interior lights still had the austin rover logo and the rear mini light clusters and door pockets up to 1997 still had the BL wheel logo!
I expect that the cars will be privately owned and they are gorgeous, including the innocenti, I just noticed a few bits and bobs in the pics but regardless of whether a few bits have been replaced or not, it's still a very rare innocenti. (they more or less all came with cooper spec engines). Great cars and really nippy too.

These are fabulous cars to work on , you top up the shocker fluids, the gearbox oil is topped up via a hole in the floor etc. Everything is my level of logic...simple. I actually have to go and try to get a mates morris minor going over the weekend, been lying for months and he says it won't start....ignition i expect! I do love old cars.

To be honest I don't know much about classic cars but I do like the look of them:D
