After selling my B reg OHV 'loon, pictured here back in July, I replaced it with a Corsa B. I think I took the first pic when I got the Corsa home.
The Corsa is a 1999 V reg 1.2 CDX, had just under 72K miles, full dealer service history, and as its a CDX, its got electric everything. Cost me £850, which wasn't too bad!
As much as I miss the loon and as much as _Jake keeps telling me to get another, the Corsa is a reliable daily...

So far I've done 5k in it, including a drive up to Liverpool (240 miles each way), where it was faultless.

So far, all I've done is put a debadged grill on it and upgrade the cassette player to a CD player with aux output

Plans are for a small drop, picking up springs from _Jake on the weekend, just sourced some wheels, need to get a new bonnet as the one currently on it is mildly damaged (was like this when I bought it), OEM spoiler. Not an imaginative project, but just a general tidy up to make it look a little less like an old woman's run around and more like a 21 year old's run around!

does the rear boot act as a bugatti veyron style spoiler as demonstrated in the last picture?

Yeah, it activates at 155mph+ for stability ;)

Picked up a set of 40mm springs today, I was tempted with 60mm's but I want to use the standard shocks so 40 it is! Wheels will be here on Monday. I'm getting somewhere! :)

I have a late 1.2 16v cdx for a daily/ work horse. They are great little cars really. With regular oil changes and general maintenance and I recon they will last as long as the nova 8v 1.2. Mines a 4 door with 47000 miles i picked up for 50 quid. Its great for hauling tools and pointless journeys are less pointless as I get 27mpg in my other daily.

Only thing that bugs me is the ICV on these engines.

Good luck with it, looks clean.

I think im turning into a closet corsa B fan :(

You have a PM.

The ICV on mine packed up after I'd had it for about a month and I have a receipt for vauxhall fitting one a few years ago so it's on it's third one haha! She's a good runner though :)

Its not the ICV thats the problem its the crud that sticks to the throttle body. You can take the ICV apart and clean it but Ive never had a problem with the unit its self.

What pisses me off is how it works. The ICV is a stepper motor that physically pushes the TB open, as opposed to a valve that opens to bypass the air around butterfly valve. what happens is the ICV opens until you press the accelerator. The ICV chases the TB open all the way till about 50% throttle then when you take your foot off the throttle it takes too long for the ICV drive back shut and drop the revs. If the ICV was faster it would probably help. It causes the revs to hang when you take your foot off the throttle which is a PITA when you change gear fast. If your less than 50% throttle the ICV is still driving open, so when you take your foot off the accelerator, the revs go up before they drop.

Its a poor design but it means it can just keep jacking the TB open when you increase the load on a closed throttle thus harder to stall.

With crud on the butterfly valve the ICV is open a tad before the airflow increases. It gets confused and you end up with an erratic idle.

Ah right, interesting to know in the event of it happening again! I had no idle at all, it would just cut out completely hah.

Also, here are the springs i got on the weekend :)

EDIT: This last pic is truly terrible quality..

I had hoped to fit the springs and wheels on the weekend, as my mate was hoping to fit some on his MX5 at the same time, but as you can probably tell from the pics, its snowing here..so that's my plans out the window!

In probably the quickest (albeit, least ambitious) project on PNG, it's basically done! A few other bits and bobs here and there, as always with a car. Got a couple of pics, but I'll get some better ones in the morning with a camera better than my iphone!

I went round a mates as he has a decent enough area for us to work on! Another mate came round to lend a hand, turns out he brought a estate full of tools, which was nice.
Should point out that this isn't pic heavy, as it quickly got to the point where everything takes about 10x longer than it should.
So we laid out all the parts needed ready to go on.

Can't quite see the dice dust caps. I think everyone who came to see what was going on said "how long do you think theyll last then?". Days I assume..

looking good mate, just my opinion, but think it'd look good if you lost the cdx badges on the side and got a wrap around spoiler :) should have kept the nova tho...

Thanks man! probably gonna take all the badges off tbh man! Still undecided on a spoiler, I was pretty sure I wanted one but now I reckon it looks really nice without it! Hmm
