I've been looking into getting a fire extinguisher to mount somewhere in the Sport

Anyone recommend any make to get? Or what not to get lol
Where from?

Hoping to get one with straps/bracket to mount to cage

Any ideas/help would be great

I bought one for my gte last year through my work but like lots of things i've not got round to doing anything with it yet, still lying in the boot lol mine is meant to be mounted as it has a little bracket with it as well, not much help mate but i would be interested to see where other people have theirs,i'll try & get info on mine when i'm back home tomorrow.

Get a plumbed in Lifeline system. They are not expensive and will give you serious piece of mind, especially running side draught carbs.

I looked into this a short while ago and came across this link which was quite a good read

It's almost pointless having a 'car' sized extinguisher. They do little to nothing when needed.

Any more info on the Lifeline system? I don't have carbs tho

I'm a Fire Warden at work, I think a small car sized extinguisher will be OK for say a electrical fire, if you have a fire associated with the fuel system your fcuked IMO

But I think I'd like a small one for piece of mind

Agreed on the peace of mind and small electrical side.
A lot the time, in the panic, I think people forget to kill the fuel pump and consequently keep feeding the fire.

you would have thought an extinguisher the size of a car would have been useful?

better than nothing though.

I had a small shiney safety devices one that had a bracket that would have fitted on the cage nicely but ive not seen it for a while.

I could never decide where to mount the one I got, so it just lives in the glovebox, which I suppose actually makes sense as the glovebox is designed to be close at hand.

This is the kit i have. I had a few scares when running bike carbs, one of which was when they slipped off their rubbers and tilted backwards. that meant a recovery at castle combe, but as stated above i walked up the bank forgetting to kill the fuel.

They overflowed, as bikes do, and god knows how it never went up in smoke.

Also had a HT lead go down when on t45's, which let fuel dribble out the back of the carb all over the start / charge loom. Again, was lucky.

Just thought id point out, if you have a fire extinguisher, you obviously hope to never use it, but if you end up needing it, you will want it to hand immediately, so having it in the boot is a bit useless, especially when with most nova's, you need the key to unlock the boot, and you will be in a right panic if youre needing to use it!

I never lock my boot as the car is never out my sight for any length of time but yes i hope never to be in the situation & it may well be useless in the event of a fire but i would rather have it than not as i've seen how quick a car can go up.

Id want it in the car, cant you tie wrap the bracket to the underside of the shelf below the dash, on the passenger side, ive got a flamebeater in mine and ive self tappered it to the side of the center console, id rather not need it, but if i do then i want it to hand in seconds!

Looks good,i might try the shelf under the dash idea if it fits.if not i'll maybe try it the way you have fixed yours on.

What can i say, im a tart for colourcoded bits lol

You shouldve seen the mental battle i had before i just fitted new pad inserts on my 737's about an hour ago, i got some clarks ones that are a whole pad with bolt, and a red replacement pad insert too, i was going to fit the red ones as they will match my kona's decals, the fork decals and the panaracer tyres aswell :d

But since its not fully dry weather yet, i went with the black as after a ride or two, the colour wont be seen lol
