My nova Project

[NOVADOSE16]

Ive just picked up my new project today, its a K reg Nova Merit 1.2i, 79,000 miles on the clock and lots of rust! I drove it home 145 miles with no trouble at all which was nice.

Not sure what im aiming for at the moment, it may well end up as a track car but not sure. I used to do bodywork for a living so the rust doesn't bother me too much, i have a big welder and so i will do all the work myself. I think i'm gonna stick a 1.6 16v in it with the powerbox fitted, should be quick and handle well.

Its far from mint but its all completely original, especially the interior, the dashboard looks like its never been touched which is what i wanted really, i wanted one to do myself.

Got some more done today. Got allot done, spent about 4 hours on it.
Stripped aload of bits off the engine

Got the engine out and then lifted it right up with the crane to see what it was like underneath and to give it a clean. The lower front panel is knackered, mainly because its been hit on the front drivers side at some point at the bottom and then left to go rusty. So a new lower crossmember will be fitted.

Took the wings off as i was expecting many holes behind them but no there was none. Abit of the metal inner wing arch has gone towards the bottom but nothing major which was nice.

Engine bay was jet washed, it came up really well. Only a couple of bits to sort out but again nothing major. Even though i'm only putting a small block engine in it i think i will still weld up the engine bay just to make it abit stronger.

one word of advice get a sealed battery as it will save your battery tray

Good advice there with the battery tray, i think the plastic tray piece saves it too.

My mate phil has just donated me this Powerbox for a 1.6 16v, one less thing to buy for it :)
