hi there i have a 20xe engine in my nova with pot type flywheel but recently have replaced with flat type flywheel and clutch after replacing this have looked and my clutch pedal is right up in the air above brake pedal and biting point on pedal is right at the top...???? have i done something wrong as i know this clutch is ok as i had it in my previous engine or is my cable stretched or summat :confused: as i have adjusted it to nearly the end ....?? please help :cry::cry::cry:

have you adjusted it the right way? ie loosen it off and see where the bite is?

i will try and loosen it off the weekend and see if its any better but what if its no better...?? any suggestions...???

tried loosening it off and makes no difference if annything worse..??? thinking clutch cable stretched...??

sounds like the offset between the plate surface and the pressure plate flange is wrong, but i dont know much about these 2l sorts of things.

what are the differences between the 2 flywheels and are the friction and pressure plates the same for both?
are the thrust bearings the same?

Clutchs are different for the different fly wheels. Are you using the flat fly clutch on a Pot fly?

thats what i thought, check you have the right ones fitted.

just changed flywheel to flat type and i know i have right pressure plate but not sure about the clutch...????

My nova runs a flat flywheel and pressure plate, with a pot friction and thrust bearing. Was the flat clutch you fitted a new one? If not that being worn could be your problem and hence you tightening the cable theres still not enough pressure to engage clutch
