What comfort? lol

Poly bush the fcuker and forget about the standard blancmange like POS bushes for the rest of it's life (bar a yearly greasing).

original metalastik bushes were developed using several thousand hours & untold millions..

poly bushes were simply cut out to fit.. oh & you can have harder or softer material....

for the road, fit std bushes.

most people on here have only ever driven novas with shagged bushes, so anything is an improvement.

poly bushes are better for track use

After read a thread on MIG over polly bushes on a mk2 astra and the odd wear they gave. Plus the crasheness they can some times give. I've held off for years, just using new GM bushes.

But now i've changed to polly tie bar bushes and will be trying lower arm ones too.. I do worry it might damage the holes in the chassis tho..

Guy on Mig had them for a year iirc and you could see they had been moving causing the hole to be damaged and enlarged.

any self respecting manufacturer, and i include gm in the 80's in that group will do thousands of hours of testing in hot, cold, dry, wet conditions to finalise a design, and as the nova/corsa A was a clean sheet design for the gm world baby car, i still think they spent a very long time making sure the suspension was well designed, which is why it was continued in the corsa b/tigra

the bushes on the nova last a lot longer than the crap they started fitting on the mk3 astras..

I have polybushes on the 4 control arms on my 5 series. They have been on about 6 months and I have not had any problems. The steering is a lot sharper without any noticeable drawbacks in comfort. That said I don't tend to use particularly bad roads and I haven't hit a pot hole yet, which may change my opinion!

Some proper old people on png tbh, its a ****ing nova ffs its never going to be nice to drive so "harshness" etc are irreverent

If I had a c20let nova and someone said to me fit standard rubber ones I would just laugh at them

mieran, if you don't spring your nova so hard that it handles like a biffa bin, then some proper bushing is quite nice.

Ben I'm sure the problem on mk2 Astras is due to the design of the wishbone, the solution being to run one rubber bush and one poly bush. Different setup to a Nova suspension...

standard bushes are fine if you use your nova like a 70 granny, once you start to drive a little enthusiastically there crap

i have driven novas quite hard since 1986, and new(ish) ones handled pretty good. i got my current one with 6500 miles on the clock & its bushes are still fine at 17000miles...

List of criteria for spec on standard Nova bushes, in order of importance:

1. Cost
2. Cost
3. Cost
4. NVH
5. Cost
6. Service Requirements
7. Cost
8. Availability
9. Cost
10. Resilience
11. Cost
287. Handling

Rubber bushes are common because they're cheaper than HB pencils, require no servicing and soak up noise... very little to do with handling! The needs of anyone like us that drive these tin cans for enjoyment for some bizarre reason, are almost entirely reversed, poly's can be greased up next time we're underneath it because something fails and we'll probably enjoy it too, don't mind spending a bit more for something that will last longer and perform better, and if makes it handle any better we'll take 6.

I wouldn't replace any bushes on anything I plan to own for an extended amount of time with anything but decent quality poly bushes.

Some people like to be able to drive their Nova and enjoy it, not lose their fillings. Or do a 300mile round trip in semi comfit..

New std bushes and fine, they just don't help it handle any better.

Yeah? I thought they use poly on both bits... But ok.
