Dont you hate when you start an item @ 99p on eBay and it sells for 99p. Lol
I have done it a few times,it pisses me right off but funny enough i think its great when i win something for 99p lol
If i list something now i just usually start it at the least i will take for it.

It could be worse I bid/ bought a nova part for 40p plus 1.40 postage (ie 1.80) . When it arrived it had cost the seller £2.20 to post a loss of 40p before charges ! Apologies if seller was on here.
If you wanted a fiver, you should have started it at a fiver lol

I think i would rather chuck something out rather than 99p due to the fact I can't be arsed wrapping it writing address and then going to the post office to post the bloody thing lol

what i hate is when i buy an item for 99p, it was 2 wheelchairs, tried to arrange get it collected, as per the listing and the seller suddenly decided it was 1 not 2, oh & he'd only send it for £45, then he tried to cancel the sale cos i'd not been in touch with him..!!!

what i hate is when you start the auction at 99p with postage cost of £3.50 then the item ends at 99p but it cost you £4.50 to post lol

Last time i was a free listings weekend i listed a starter motor for a TD cavvy, think it went for a £1 or something daft like that with £8 postage.
Sure it ended up cossing me £12 to post, doh.
I have done a few times, but you make it back when you sell a gear gaiter £18 etc etc.

True, put a set of broken angel eye headlights for a mk4 astra up spares or repairs, looking for a tenner. Ended up getting £43 - god bless these chavs with deep pockets. lol

Just sold a boost gauge amongst other unwanted stuff, and the buyer decided he wanted a 52mm not the 60mm I sold (mentioned in listing). Plus that it's cracked. No chance.
I bubble wrapped the fcuk out of it.
So, he twists that it's 'not as described', opens a dispute and eBay tell me to refund him.
I say yeah, sure if he returns the item.
He agrees, posts it back, but oh what's this? Unrecorded? Oh well, I'm still 'waiting' for it.

Nobody is crying, quite the opposite. You may well be an old timer.... Maybe that would explain how you seem to misunderstand the internet.
These forums are littered with "Ebay, where do i stand" threads, which are often due to people falling foul of sellers like yourself. So what if they mis-read the advert, and so what if they get carried away and place bids without thinking them through, there are provisions in place to see that you as a seller are not left out of pocket, and in some cases to see that these buyers are held accountable for their reckless actions
You, most certainly do not call the shots though.
As i say, the marketplace is far better off without crooks like you.
As I am not currently selling anything, I guess you have your wish, and as I have the gauge, and the money I guess we both have what we want.
Everyone wins. :)

there are saints & sinners everywhere....just look at the horse meat thing!!!!!! a bloke changed one word, and then sold the stuff at a price that was obviously dodgy.......
the trick to selling is either buy right in the first place, or know what you want for an item, then make sure you list it properly.
there are loads of chancers who try it on, but if someone doesn't properly read a listing, then its their own fault..
i am not condoning certain returns policies, ahem limp ahem, but i bought something by misreading a while back, relisted it & sold it for a profit... that covered the postage too.
my best bargain was buying a set of 4 bike racks & a set of roof bars for £20+postage, and sold the roof bars for £20+postage, so 4 bike racks stand me at £8.50
my fave deal was buying a set of 4 corsa sxi rims with legal tyres for £40+postage cos the seller failed to spell neither vauxhall nor corsa.......lol lol lol

i had a landrover towbar on ebay worth around 100quid started at 99p to skimp on sellers fees and forgot all about it untill my phone pinged saying item sold for me to realise it only sold for 99p lol

Worth a look.

best one i had was won a set of wheels for £25 and the postage was £135 so i just drove the 10 miles to collect lets just say you could see the steam coming from his ears when I left lol

Works fine the few times I have used it.
It's a tracked, insured service anyway. So even if they do somehow lose the pacel, you're covered.
Wrap things up suitably, and you have no issues ime. I send a lot of parcels too. I don't usually use Hermes, just depends on what I am sending.
