My **** corsa;

3dr non sunroof & 1.2 8v powered. 45bhp.

Then i crashed it into a towbar.

But the gearbox whined realy bad in 3rd & 4th, and the clutch slipped pretty bad. So started ripping it apart;

Leaving as such;

Ripped engine wiring & rad & **** out;

Engine coming out;

Leaving a gearbox oil covered drive & an engine on the deck.

So what to replace it with? 2.0? V6?

Nah.

£40 later i had a carbed 1.2 from a mk2 nova, with a gearbox & an SR cam. Good for about 55bhp & doesnt break the bank. Bigger bore, shorter stroke, better port shape on the head. Cam should add 5bhp.

Swapped all 3 mounts & the gear linkage. Then went in...

Lifted whole car at once with engine crane. Car weighs about 800kg, cranes got a limit of a ton so seemed safe enough.

So now sits like this;

Need to finish junking the tank pump, refit rad, wire the start/charge loom & make a new engine loom - two wires, one +12v to the coil & one for the temp gauge. Bodywork on & we'll see how it goes. If it runs i'll do the head rebuild & decoke & fit the fancy cam.

Also need to pinch the choke cable off the nova & decat the downpipe. Cats are worth money & carbs will melt it.

I quite like the fact you have gone for another yet better 1.2

Engine was from Teddy's silver mk2, have thought about bike carbs but realy want to get it running before fiddling with it. When i've heard it run i'll rip the head off, fit the SR cam & figure out what to do with carbs. I may fit a single hornet carb as i have one, and its a CV carb. Would probbably make for better fuel economy if jetted right.
