im with Sky for my broadband

looking through the details, it says its true unlimited

is this really true ?

as i may i have tested it a little .....lol

bought a new PC with Windows 8 on it,

i have a lot of DVD's that i wanted to rip on to hard drive,

after getting pissed off with programs either not ripping correctly, or not being compatibly with Windows 8 i dediced to download every film/dvd i have from torrent sites

thing is i have done 274GB in 3 days lol

am i going to have any grief from doing this ?

will there be a limit to the 'unlimited sky broadband' ?

i am using a IP address blocker if that's any use

is the 'blocker' a proper VPN or something else that makes you think you are safe lol

You need a proxy service or a VPN (similar thing) or just risk it..... From the sounds of it you are going to be drilling the ass off it so I hope you get a letter lol

274gb in 3days is slightly "excessive" tbh lol

If its a one off, they might let it slide. If you do the same next month they may get a little shirty lol

AFAIK Sky is proper unlimited but they, as with most ISPs, get irate about P2P traffic. Surprised they've not throttled you back yet lol

I have done another 40ishGB today, which has done a lot of it now, so will leave it a while before finishing the job

All this P2P/torrent stuff is a bit lol tho, why not just ban the sites if there that much trouble ?

Speed wise, its been a steady 5MBPS since i started it, which is normal

Errr piratebay? lol

You can't really ban the sites, for each one that gets canned another 2/3 will pop up. They can monitor the data transfers though and go after the users instead

[edit] Which is annoying, as P2P should be a great thing for the internet, but now its just associated with pirating and all that

Ubuntu distros on torrents are far better for server loads etc.

I think they will flag you up to the authorities of you take the P155, my younger bro took out an iphone contract with three when they were doing unlimited 3G. He gets such good signal on it that he tethers his PC/Phone to gether and gets better bandwith than our broadband. His counter is so high on the download he REALLY abuses it.

I havee sjy unlimited and torrent quite a bit and have never had any trouble. your nearly 300gb is exessive i would say. You must be gettin a good speed to download that much that quick too!

Usual peak time contention ratio issues really.

I'm sure when I read fair usage for Sky it said do what the hell you like between 11pm and 5am or something like that, so stick it on a scheduler and you'll be sorted.

That's sounds right, they don't like p2p during peak hours but aren't so worried during quiet times.

That's a lot of data - we offered unlimited but had to stop heavy users especially over bt ip stream as it was coasting us a fortune in ip data rates.
