kenwood ilumination

i just bought this second hand kenwood mask tape unit with cd changer and am having a small problem with it. i wired it up but could not find were to put the ilumination wire? so it all works ok but it won't light up at all only when u put a tape in itand its half open then when it shuts it goes off again is it this wire thats causing it not to come on? if so were do i connect this wire to? any help much appreciated thanx.

As far as I'm aware you shouldn't have to connect a seperate wire for the illumination, my Kenwood Dmask+ doesn't have one, I assume it gets the power from the +12v wire for it.
Have you looked at the options? Because on mine you can turn the illuminations on and off (Hold down the menu button I think to run through the options - such as colour, contrast etc etc)
