Been offered a vectra Sri turbo at a bargain price, 2004, but what's the engine code? I thought it would be z20let but it looks completely different?

Yeah, Saab share a lot of parts with Vauxhall, it's all GM stuff, some of the parts under the bonnet on this have SAAB stamped on them.
Just weighing up the options on if it's worth buying it or not. I was hoping it'd be a z20let so I'd have everything for a conversion to sell on or do. Plus the rest to break. But I don't think it's gonna be worth it now. It needs a new turbo, which can be got for £200 exchange at AET turbos local to me. But I can buy the full car at a reasonable price.

it probably is the same, as the saab 1.8t is a 2 ltr!

Looks a lot like the Astra 2.2 engine too which baffled me

The z20net and Saab b207L are the same iirc

Its based on the 2.2 16v ECO but destroked down to 2.0 and with a turbo added.
Entirely different engine to z20let. (Inlet/exhaust on opposite sides, chain driven etc)

And indeed it is shared with Saab 93

Very good and strong engine...oem Saab bits make it good for many hundreds of bhp.

The l61 and m850 base engines are just epic. There is the gm sport compact book for tuning etc.

Given it has a z22se in there, yes. Some folks are doing the b207 install at the moment as the stock bottom end is good for about 400bhp.

now that definitely makes sense.. very quick wheels for less than the cost of a decent LET nova..

Not at all.
Would be immense in a decent chassis!

Good luck fitting it into anything like a nova/corsa lol

Mmm tempting to buy it for the engine then and wait till a cheap blown 2.2 Astra turns up then? Mmmm

Dont forget engines of these age's run CAN systems. Not just a case of connecting 4wires like 90s engines lol

Anyway I've just bought a running signum with this engine, in just about to fit a clutch, BUT I want to tune it.
Does anyone have any info on tuning or remapping these? The intercooler is already as big as the radiator, everything is standard, but I want to tune it and add more power and noise but keep it respectable ish for a daily.
Any info will be happily rewarded with rep :)

Remaps on the standard wine are a waste of time and money.
Z22se.co.uk is a good place to look, but they do love the Norfolk choooooners lots on there.
Supercharging is the most efficient way to power and retaining daily use. Stick at 220-250bhp and it will be as reliable as you want for ages.

It's already turbo'd tho so why charge it, I don't want to spend thousands. Just want a little more oompff

Ahh, forgot it was the terbow version...

Just take it the the turnip crunchers (them folks in Norfolk) for some calibration screw up AKA remap.

The TD04 turbo can be one of many different specs I *think*. Pretty sure my BMW TDS one is a TD03, and the TD04 fits? But as there's various ones it depends what car you take it off as to whether it's an improvement or not?

I only looked at it very very briefly tbh, intrigued browsing rather than genuine research lol

MK is right TD04 is a family name, just like T2, T25, RHB5 etc... this means that the flanges and fitment are going to be the same (or similar, some car manufacturers get their own versions with different oil fittings, water cooling, CHRA or housing rotation) but the compressor and turbine characteristics will come in many different flavours, which are carefully designed compressor map for a particular engine design, even the same engine can have different compressor maps between manual and auto gearbox versions to suit the torque curve required.
The parts are interchangable so once you have calculated your engines flow at a given RPM and selected a compressor wheel and housing, you can mix and match turbines and CHRAs to get something that works for you.

the chances are and extra 5psi adjustment on the wastegate will be adequate for your needs.
