1600 8v or 16v?
Tbh ive had a 20SEH nova and a corsa b redtop and now i'm happy with a 1300 nova!
All depends whether its for track/ road and how far you wanna go with it.

1600 8v alll the way
What do you prefer to drive?
I love mine when it was xe powered. But a carbed up 1.6 would be nice.
1600, especially around your bit, on the back roads my old gsi was brilliant, only really used 4th and 3rd so no need for the big engine,

2ltr on bike carbs
if it's an original looking car why don't you go down the 1.3/1.4 route and go for cams, carbs, gearbox etc.
My 1.4 set up only by me on a very tight budget, has no problems keeping up with 1.6 twin cam mx5s etc which should be out of a 1.4s league. driving on the open road is still a massive blast, can be calm round town and mental out of town, and part of the fun is that you have to rev the teets of it.
If not 1.3/4 (thats a one litre three quarters) then the 1.6, if your going to xe it you'll need a lot of suspension work etc to give the traction so you get any benefit from the engine, moving further away from an original SR....unless that's what you want?

Be different, go 1400 16v on carbs or TB's. Keeps you in the lower tax band as well.
big block chevy lump, or NOTHING!

1.6 16v, powerbox, f15cr box = finished and a dam sight cheaper IMO.

I agree with southie, smallblock XE's are fun. I had a tigra 1.6 16v in my mk2 Astra and it was real good fun for a 1.6

I have both engines so could go either way.

2.0 16v :thumb: reason - anything smaller and you'll want more power one day

also liking the idea of a 2 litre 16, with a long ass diff in so it goes 170 mph :P

Oh so you can swing either way lol! 1600 if you want to keep the handling or 2.0 if u want a heavy understeering front end? I would go 1.3 but I am sure you sold that so 1600 it is m8 :thumb:
