Ok its not a Nova but when I get this one finished for the missus, I can sell the KA and buy the final bits I need for my nova!
I bought a meriva, 1.6 Z16xe engine. When first started it had thick white smoke coming out of the exhaust and plug no.1 was wet.
I checked all the usual suspects, but it did not seem to be loosing water. It also had quite a few botches on the fuel rail etc. but ran fine when I drove it home.
I have changed the head gasket and inspected the head. Could not see any signs of cracks or anything, except a couple of marks on the face. I also checked the head for straightness and all seemed fine.
Put it back together and yay no smoke, until..... it got warm and started thick white smoke only when revving on idle it was quite clear. I also checked the plugs and now 1 & 3 (the only ones I checked) are now wet!!
Any ideas? Im thinking new head or new engine, they seem pretty cheap anyhoo.
