Hoping someone can help me! My car(sri) just doesnt run as good any more! There are no fault codes coming from the ecu and nothing seems to be leaking etc!

Whenever it reaches about 4500 revs the acceleration just dies?? Just totally loses its power! Even struggles to get past 100mph!

Also noticed that it limits a lot slower and seems to be going through alot of fuel and sometimes actually cuts out!!

Anyone any idea as it would be much appreciated!

my 1.4 (carbbed) does this - struggles for any acceleration in 4th/5th - have to change down and welly it to get any power

If when you accelerate at 4.5k it feels like the brakes come on or the engine note doesnt change it could be timing...

Not too sure about injection models but on mine I've been advised its the jets that need adjusting (its got a weber 32/34) and the dizzy may be the wrong one (I think I have an astra 1.4 but it has an orange single dog drive dizzy unit rather than the astra black cap dizzy unit???)

Got mine booked into a weber specialist so will hopefully get it fixed friday.

Check timing and injection bits - could also be overfueling? - does it idle fast?

Well its every gear that doesnt have any acceleration, its doing my head in!! It was fine about a week ago too! It idles fine but think it must be over fueling somehow. I'll definetley get the timing checked and that and get new leads and plugs to see if that makes a difference!

its 99% sure gonna be your crank position sensor.

advised you take it to vuax to get it onto tech machine if its not showing any codes through the ecu light! does the light actualy work? to test put the ignition key into the position so the fan etc work but engine not running, it shud stay on in this position!

basicaly your engine is in 'limp home' mode becuase a major sensor (crank/map) is fualty or not conected properly.

The lights working fine as i just put a new bulb in! Is it quite pricey to get it on a tech machine, what does this involve? Also what do you mean by 'limp home' mode? Is the crank sensor the one at the bottom of the engine next to the bottom pulley by any chance?

yes it is down by the bottom pulley

basically the ecu is missing a main data feed that it uses for mapping out the fuel

so in an attmept to save itself from damage it limits the RPM to 4k

why did u mention the crank sensor? u damaged it or summat?
