Last night noticed that its crunching in 4th. It's a month out of warranty :(
Phones Renault who said they need it in for an hour to check what's up but if its been abused it'll be me who pays for it!! 33k and syncro goes...that's not abuse just a **** part!
So they want £278 inspection fee to take the box out and put back in but waive that if its the syncro fault and not a burnt clutch! Wtf!!
So potentially looking at over 2k to replace. Let the blame and arguments begin.

put thick oil in the box and sell it on, job jobbed
By-pass your local dealer and get in contact with renault UK , kick up a fuss and even if its out of warranty they usually will offer a contribution

Was going to sell but have 4k neg equity due I the last car(s) so was needing to keep this until the halfway to loose the 4k neg eq.
I've called Renualt UK directly, it's in on Monday and will know what they offer.
Renault UK take their time and will try and fob you off (as most peeps wont bother once they say we cant really cover it) but keep at them, then they will bend over and take it in the a$$, theyre good with just paying up to shut moaning customers up, so moan like fook lol
(used to work for a renault mainstealer so i know how it works)
never ever ever buy a French car, i don't know one person to ever say a good word about them, seem to fall apart straight after they roll of the production line, utter crap
Cant agree with that, they have as many problems as ANY new cars these days in my experience, theyre actually more reliable these days than they ever were before!
French hot hatches are the best on the market, most powerful, best emission standards, best vehicle safety standards, i would own a Megane RS250, or Clio 200 if i were buying a new car!
renaults are better than most, can a gearbox out of a 182, or 172 fit? if so, i have one!
My mate had an 59 plate clio 200 that had the same problem, turns out he only had a weeks warranty left when he put it into renault 19,000 miles on the clock & it needed a new gearbox, boy was he lucky.
Hey John 7 years ago I bought a 172 with 24k on the clock and just under 4 years old. It was falling apart and by the time I sold it 3rd gear was a bit dodgy. I was glad to see the back of it. Never again would I buy a french car. I have now owned my mk5 golf for 5 years now and touch wood no major problems and it drives like new. If renault wont fix it get rid and go German! :thumb:

It is horses for courses, its a great car, handles fantastic but its down to how the dealers handle it now.
The big problem does seem to be the syncro. I have done 17k in 6 months in it. It's done well lol
I'm not so sure that their is the good and bad makes now...possibly just a blend of okay cars. I had a passat before with 50k and was fine. Mate had one at 68k and was riddled with faults. Hard one to call on what's a good marque now.
I'll let you know how I get on....just incase you all turn to French ;)

World of difference in the 197/200 over the 172. I drove the 172 and they did fall apart lol. The 200 has a better quality feel
On another note, have you got the recaro's in your 200..?

This is no joke but I am sure they have been recalled for bolster wear! lol
Yeah they probably did, as most typical fat gits dont know how to get in and out of them without causing massive wear, most peeps just chuck their asses in and then swing their legs in, thats how they wear through, youre supposed to step in with one leg, sit yourself into the seat then bring your other leg in, i just dived into the first one we got in, and nearly broke my ass on the side bolster lol
Figured out how to get in and out properly after that though :thumb:
i wouldnt fit in the seat full stop lol
french cars handle great & usually go really well for about 3 years....
then god help you...
maybe its the british climate & use of road salt, but i have had tons of bother with french electrics in renault, peugeot vans & daf trucks(the little ones use a renault truck cab)
I've heard the syncros go on these 200's, but usually 3rd..
As for reliability issues, ive got a 2003 172 cup with 100k on the clock and its been the most reliable car to date.
