My car is a 1984 model with the early plastic covered wiper motor and uses this plug

I got a wiper motor of what I'm told is an E Reg Nova but the plug is different to mine.

Can anyone tell me what years I can get a wiper motor from that will be a direct plug in replacement without going for the early type again? :thumb:

Only the early type will fit unless you change the plug.

what does the '84 motor look like? is it the same construction with just a different moulded socket?
might be possble to swap the top covers which contain the postion/park brushes to save you changing the plugs?

You can just see it in the back ground.

hard to tell without seeing whats under the black cover.
seems a shame to loose the look of the old motor thought. its likely toataly different as the bracket looks cast into the gearbox as apposed to a pressed frame.
if you didnt want to chop your plug and hash your OE loom, you could get a later type plug with a length of wires on it and crimp male spades on the end, connect this up like a conversion lead and tape the join up out the way further back where you wont see it.
you have little other options if you cant get the right motor.
You can get a adapter that is about 6inches long with early plug one end and late the other, vauxhall still have them last time I checked

at €37, i would just make one.
Crack on then, the cost of two looms to do so will be more that the adapter, I got mine for £12

Cheers Ed, that's great. There is nothing wrong with my wiper motor at all. It's in really good condition. I was going to whip it off and sell to someone needing a early one for a build and take a "undesirable" one in part ex. I'm not overly fussed about which one is fitted to it as long as it works so figured I'd make a few quid out of it.
