are there any differences between the bottom ends of these 3 engines ?
i havent inspected them, but ill take a guess theres a crank sensor spot on the SE and probably a different breather system ? anything else

I know the 14NV shares the smaller flywheel with the 1.3 engines etc and the SE shares the larger 1.6 flywheel. The pistons are different aswell.
The NV is a square port head and the SE a round port iirc.

The 14NZ has a different cylinder capacity to the 14NV/14SE (which are 1389cc iirc) and the 14NZ is 1367cc.

The bore is the same - I think the difference is the pistons.

if i remember there is a crank sensor point on all the crank webs, as well as a brass bung on the block for insertion of the sensor. this is used for diagnostic purposes only.

all injection/ign position and speed sensing is done by camshaft pick up in distributor or 60-2 wheel on the crank pulley with an external pickup. These parts can be easilly retro-fitted.

As a general small block point (i think), one thing to note is that engines which use the crank sensor 60-2 have different oil pump castings. there is a locating hole cast into the pump housing to allow the crank sensor to fit snugly and maintain an airgap. You can use the pickup on the pump casing without the dowel, but its just not as stable as it should be. I think you would really need an oil pump from a later corsa.

all 3 engines are 1389cc, the bore and stroke are the same for these engines. the difference in pistons is that the 14nz/14nv pistons are dished out a little deeper than those from a 14se

is that what drops those 2 blocks into a different compression bracket ?
so i could put an SE head on an NZ block for instance, and it would become and 14NE ? instead of SE ?

Only C14se/C16se had the 60-2 Crank pickup.
Other injection engines ran off the dizzy hallsensor.

You can put the SE had onto the NZ block and it'll be fine. Wont give exactly the same CR as a 14se, as said the pistons are different.

whats a 60 for 2 crank pickup ? lol (sensor slot)

the compression will be lower in theory wont it

looking at the haynes figures, would be down to 9.4:1 from 10:1
anyone done this combo before ?

Yeah, my old 1400 engine was a SR 1.4 bottom end and a SE topend.
