Did you keep the second key? I'm no Audi technician but found this if it helps CLICKYKEY (http://reviews.ebay.co.uk/How-To-Program-Reprogram-Your-Audi-Remote-Key-Fob-A4?ugid=10000000010293524)
Worth a try, if it doesn't work though its nothing to do with me btw lol

Original key worked fine until the flip part broke so all I tried to
Take the transponder chip out of the key and snapped it.
It's an x reg 18t a3

There were some kids in Aberdeen that might be able to help?

Hmm, some of the older stuff can be problematic with programming, It could have been a diagnostic issue also. All dealers should be running odis now which again can throw problems up. I had a similar problem recently, was an on-line issue (authority has to be gained via audi's server when doing anything with the immobiliser for security issues) customer returned next day and programming went through. What are they wanting you to do now?

They have ordered a new key to rule that out first. I wish they could just write the immobiliser out the ecu

Aye they'll break into it and find the valet key for you, all for the price of a test drive lol
On a serious note I'm glad the little runts have been caught!

Breaking into houses and stealing keys mostly. Rs4,Porsche,bmw's! Almost every night cars were going missing. We're caught a couple of weeks ago, not by the police at first. A beating was given then the police were called supposedly lol
