NovaDave, this isn't the first thread you've started about Southend or cruises and everyone you do you get slated for. You should expect it by now. The best place for this sort of thread is the regional section since its more likely to get a serious response.
If Im not doing anything that night, I'll take a drive down there. I take it you won't be driving your GTE?
The only thing going will be your diff and bottom end after all the big man, one-wheel FWD burnouts. lol

yeah i know i was going to put it in the south regional but wanted to let other regionals know about it and i did expect some slated about it lol and i wont be taking the gte as its still off the road and no were ready for then i would love to take it :( but cant so i take my other car if you come you going in your nova ?

instand fine, and you will get your car taken of you, been in the local rag, council need to get a ****ing life really, i dont agree with everyone driving a million miles an hour along the golden mile, but a group of people and car clubs showing off there cars, and spending there money in cafes, petrol stations, arcades, etc aint hurting no one, and brings money into the town when every shop is struggling. idiots

It's not a case of high horse... It's more that most cars the average schmo on the street classes as a performance car is just a slightly over powered hatchback etc.
1. most chavved up cars are illegal in some way & deserve to get impounded, or the driver prosecuted.....
2. stu, there are loads of factory offerings with 180+hp that have more than a hint of 'scene' about them... what do you think some officious little twerp in a hi viz waistcoat will do when looking at a car in the dark???
3. there is truly nothing wrong in a group of decent modified cars collecting somewhere so their owners can chew the fat for a couple of hours before going home... sadly, some tw&t in a 1.2 corsa usually decides to find his rev limiter to ruin procedings....

It goes a little like this in my experience...
Police arrive, make their intentions known via loud hailer, that they will clamp every car in 'illegal' gathering. Hundreds upon hundreds in this case.

the only problem with Western is that in the summer you have city folk from oop norf thinking its Ibiza FFS lol comical to watch

most of the time, the cops rely on scaring young kids into admitting stuff... its way easier than actually finding hard evidence.
it is actually quite amazing how ringing up the police & making a formal complaint against an officer kicks them into action...
I don't go to these type of events anymore, but every time one of these events, its not the driving like a cnut thats the issue especially as they have installed speed bumps, 1 speed camera, and an average speed camera system of 20mph down half the seafront (which a little exessive imo) its the volume of people, the amount of people that turn up literally shut down the whole seafront, meaning people that actually want to go to the seafront or the massive casino or adventure island cant, and when it was busy it (no joke) took me 2 hours to get off the seafront to go home.

the thing i really don't understand is that some prat actually organised this weeks ago...
in the 90's, before the interweb, they could organise a rave with literally an hours notice & people were tuned into some pirate radio station to find out where it was going to be. & thousands of people turned up.. the police hadn't got a chance of being in place to stop it. with all the social media we now have, a car cruise could be sorted in a matter of seconds. & could also disperse in a few minutes if a lookout clocked the old bill leaving the station.. it wouldn't be that hard at all

Yea thats the problem thats why its being ruined, it goes on the likes on facebook and goes viral, then everyone turns up, the last one i went to at southend, i spoke to a group of lads who traveled down from manchester to go to it :wtf:
In all fairness, its mainly the location thats the issue, it just hasn't got the capacity.
There are several locations that always hold these 'meets' quite successfully, which work alongside the police, which is the best way, where the police have no presence to an agreed time, then everyone leaves. Which is how it should be imo, best of both worlds, car enthusiasts have there meets, and police have control.
This 'southend takeover' has the problem in the title, it takes over southend, and cause mayhem lol. This meet was then rearranged in Becton area in london and i went down with a few mates, people parked up, had a look around, there was even a professional photo booth section that was pretty cool, but most importantly, everyone was behaved (near enough) and no 3rd parties were disrupted or effected. Winner winner.
Ps the pea green saloon (on ats classics?) that was there was mint!
would just like to say that the reason it was banned by the police was because of people racing along the sea front, now that seems fair enough to me, but the fact of the matter is there are WORKING avarage speed cameras down there with a 20mph limit, so the racing would be ****ing boring!

I see why they ban it to be honest, reading that article I'd say 70% are enthusiasts and 30% are dicks. I went to Southend when I first bought C20 TBO after not being on the scene for a few years. The static meet was ok but as soon as they went to laindon (which is effectively a business park) there were hoards of croozers racing and drifting amongst huge crowds much a like the spectators on the group b rally stages. I did one lap and left for fear of getting smashed into. I will venture out to these nights as I like to see cars and like to discuss cars with like minded enthusiasts, you will always get the odd wigger asking 'how many brakes has it got blud' and explaining how there 'vtec would rinse it yo' but the majority are ok.
i see it specifically banned driving in convoys...or heavy urban traffic... so i hope they arrested everyone at rush hour on monday just to prove a point....
and also excessive speeding!!!!! so normal speeding is ok then lol lol
performing stunts!!!!!! nuff said there, but tyre smoke in 1st gear with the handbrake on is hardly a stunt

Where in Laindon do they go? I had worked near there for 5 years and never found anywhere that could host more than 5 cars :lol maybe basvegas but thats not part of Laindon.

there is racing there every saturday from what a friend told me
But there is nothing there to race around etc lol
unless people get confused with basvegas and the surrounding roads.
