this is more then likely a stupid question but hey ho
if i cut out the rear wheel well of the nova and a fair bit around it, would it be possible to bond in a piece of sheet alloy in its place? kinda like the lotus Elise's is held together
more then likely wont end up doing it, but the idea entered my brain hole so thought i would ask lol
ANYTHING is possible with silicone sealant lol

Personally I'd rather weld some steel in, even if it is just relatively thin stuff.
Pop rivits are the future !!!!!
i think you have to be careful within a certain distance of the suspension, but apart from that, it should be ok.
some tiger seal and a bag of rivits should do the job!

would it not weaken the structure of the car just bonding and riviting it in place?

I thought aluminium and steel together started a chemical reaction that causes them both to corrode rapidly.
I would bolt it in.
If you crash do you really want a flying aluminum piece slicing your flesh?

of course it will, but people still insist on doing it on road legal cars, then leaving an original bumper on to make an underfloor air dam, so they actually get rear lift.....

I would personally put a x cross section back in using some small diameter box section and then weld some thin steel sheet back in to keep the rigidity of the **** end.
Otherwise flex in the body might become an issue if you cut it right out lol

it does, its a form of electrolytic reaction and it will knacker up of bare steel meets bare aluminium. but with suitable surface prep, it should be fine

Mowgli beat me to it, it's called electrosis or something lol very common on land rovers because of the steel/alloy mix of body panels.
/\ and also a handy excuse for landrover to use.... to get round shocking build quality on old model landys discos & rangeys....
and amazingly use of ally seemed to do nothing for them in the way of weight saving

perfect time to make a nice diffuser/smooth inner bumper. i was impressed with the rear diffuser/floorpan on clio 192s or whatever they are. wouldnt mind hacking one off to avoid the drag off the bumper on mine.
