would you guys say the 4-2, gte/gsi manifold is any better than the 4-2, 1.3 or 1.4. they all look very similar in design ?

and the 2-1 downpipe on the 1.3's are the shortest of the bunch, the 1.4 a little longer, the gte/gsi the longest, but again, all fairly similar design.

what say you ?

14NV is a nice design, E16SE is also good.

14NV compared to a Janspeed 4-2-1

The janspeed looks much better, although a gte system is wider and better than the NV system.

I went for an NV so it would mate up to a 1.3/1.4 Magnex. I think the 1.6 routes/mounts differently.

cheers for the pics novasport.

i heard that too, about the mounting. does the gte/gsi have different mount points on the chassis ?

would be cool if anyone else has a shot or 2 of a gte manifold / downpipe :)

The only difference I've seen between GTE and the Cat equipped GSi & SRi is the bracket to the floor pan on the downpipe (to help with the weight), you can see the same on Rich's pics above. Manifold and down pipe are the same length and terminate in the same place and then have sprung bolts to connect to centre section (GTE) or Cat (GSi/SRi).

GTE non cat exhausts do not line up the same as 1.3/1.4's at the join between downpipe and the system, been there and had the problems lol

Yes, I was sure they were routed differently aswell.

1.3/1.4 has a straight fit where it joins the centre section.
GTE/GSI joins at an angle.

The guy wanted a picture of a GTE downpipe. My comments were that it was the same as the GSi without the cat bracket. Don't see any reference in my post to the 1.3/1.4

Looking at Jimbob's starting post, he is looking for an exhaust for a 1.3 or 1.4. If he is running with an exhaust system originally designed for one of those systems then a GTE manifold and downpipe may not fit.
Edd is just pointing that out so he does not waste his money buying something that wont fit. Just friendly advice imo.

Oh FFS seriously put the ****ing handbags down eh?

unless the engine is seriously modified, the std 1.3/1.4 exhaust with a good back box is pretty good. the astra/nova challenge racers used to cut the 2-1 joint open to tidy it up as they reckoned it was worth 2-3hp.
the std gte is the same diameter as the 1.3/1.4 system, and it is definitely longer between the 4-2 & the 2-1 than the 1.3/1.4, and some of the 2-1 joint sections i have seen on the gte one look a lot worse than the 1.3 type.

I wasn't getting shirty mate, just pointing out what the lad was looking for. You were swinging the bag after Edd's reply which I thought was unecessary.

What you going with?

What you going with?

i think a complete 1.4 system is about as good as i can go... if the gte downpipes too long for the channelling in the shell...
i forgot to mention this is a for a 5 door too, so might complicate things slightly.
i know that any aftermarket system will prob be better, but i want to keep it semi-sleeper in GM clothes, plus im not massively keen on exhaust roar.
i just wanted something that could handle 100 horse

i have a 1.3 manifold already. looks like the 1.4 manifolds different tho, a slight twist, and more meat on it ?

If you have a 1.3 manifold already I would go with that as the 14NV manifolds and downpipes are getting hard to find.
I could not get a non genuine downpipe for my 14NV manifold and it took ages to find a genuine one.

any bog std nova 4-2-1 exhaust will cope with 100hp.

the gte one should fit the 5door shell, as it fits my (originally) 1.0 3dr shell without any bother.
