strut top angle

The bit at the top of my strut is at a slight angle and I don't know how it should sit. It is the bit where the spring seats into, but then meeting top bolt etc at the top would be at an angle, there is a hole to mark the narrowest bit. Does anyone know where this should be situated?

It is an FK strut, I don't know what the initial setting was a they were both different.

I can't picture it. The top spring platform is at an angle?

Edit: Just noticed this pic in For Sale section, the slight difference in angle between the cup and the bit that bolts to the turret?

Yes, the bit in the pic just above the spring (and spring seat), almost brass in colour in the pic. Basically one end is very slightly deeper than the other, I assume it is supposed to sit at a certain point as it's narrowest bit has a hole to mark it visually.

Like the ones in the pic, as soone as they are removed from the car, they are loose and move! Perhaps they settle to the correct angle when the car is being used?
