Grab handle

Is it possible to fit a grab handle to an old mk1 boot? My boot is absolute mint and it'll be a shame to swap it for a rusty boot just so i can have a grab handle, so do you think it's possible to fit one onto it? Are they the same shape, would it just be a case of lining up some holes and screwing it on? I havnt had a look into it yet so im aware it could be a silly question and not possible lol

The early round lock tailgate is totally different to the grab handle type. The recess is a totally different size.

I thought that would of been the case lol I just thought of the idea now and didnt look to see if they were different. Shame i'll have to change boots then, im needing it to look like a mk2 :( and i've got no key for it so i need to change the lock anyway Lol
